Fev and York have both published their 21 Man Squads. We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads so we choose to use guesswork based on last week’s teams to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs. Any loan players are shown in green and any dual reg players in pink.

There’s a been a lot of pondering at fevnut mansion this week and the vast majority has been about how best to express our feelings on the subjects we wanted to write about without appearing to be too negative. The time has come when we need to put fingers to keyboard, so here goes! The Swinton game It was the second shocker in a row. It’s been interesting reading Fev fans comments about it on social media and they seem to divide into two camps. Most have been highly critical, particular of how often we spilled the ball, and the rest saying “a win is a win”. Fev and Swinton have now both published their 21 Man Squads. Swinton's includes 3 St Helens players on dual reg and 2 Salford players on loan! We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads so we choose to use guesswork based on last week’s teams to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs. In Swinton's case, we have listed the 17 that played last week and added (at the bottom) their two new loan signings from Salford. Any loan players are shown in green and any dual reg players in pink.

Last Sunday Whenever we write, we try to avoid criticising the players, the coach or the club management. Maybe we were critical of the coach last season but that was because he gave us so many reasons to do so that it became extremely difficult to avoid it! Generally, we believe that praise, where due, is a much better motivation than criticism. It’s a way of operating we tried to maintain throughout our teaching career as well as when we were politically responsible for the cultural sector of Wakefield Council. Some people argue that, if you pay your money, you have a right criticise, but Rovers is such an important, loved, part of our life that we really don’t want to indulge in negatives. The fact that we have that to say tells you all you need to about what we felt about the performance against Halifax. At least the last 5 minutes were exciting as we desperately tried to take back the lead. One thing for sure is that Halifax were so much better than when we played them last mont
