n.b. There was some confusion in the crowd when Jack Owens came on as a sub because he had not been named in the 17 on the teamsheet or on the tannoy announcements. It turns out that Widnes replaced Ollie Brookes, originally named on the bench, with Jack Owens shortly before kick-off.

Fev v Widnes Vikings (Championship Round 27): 21 Man Squads

Fev and Widnes have now both published their 21 Man Squads. If and when we get the Widnes official 21 man squad we will update this page. We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads so we choose to use guesswork based on last week’s teams to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs. Any loan players are shown in green, dual reg players in pink.

Surprise, surprise. It's neither James Vella nor Michael Smaill! For the first time this year we have Aaron Moore although he did do more Fev matches (six) than any other referee last year. This year he has been predominantly taking charge of Super League matches.

Toulouse We were unable to get to Toulouse and it was difficult watching it on the stream at the clubhouse, especially as we got no commentary. But, since then, we have been able to watch the complete match on our television by connecting it up with the video on RoversTV. This year we have scored 50 or more points eight times, against Whitehaven (twice), Barrow, Newcastle (twice), Swinton, Keighley and London. And we have conceded eight or less points 14 times, against Whitehaven (twice), Keighley (twice), Widnes, York (twice), Barrow, Newcastle, Swinton (twice), London, Batley and Bradford. However, we felt that last Saturday’s match against Toulouse was the best performance yet, bearing in mind that we were away to our strongest rivals. Our forwards were dominant against a strong opposition pack, our halves were creative and our backs incisive. In the main our defence was strong. Yes, Gareth Gale had a bit of a nightmare in the first half with two dropped attempts to claim long

Head Coach: Neil Belshaw   John Kear was appointed as the Widnes head coach on July 1 st last year and was their head coach when we played them earlier this year. After they lost at home to Swinton on June 25 th (their fourth successive defeat) Kear was sacked and Neil Belshaw was appointed as caretaker coach for the rest of the season. He had been appointed as assistant coach at the beginning of this year after following a rather unusual route. From 2012 he had been a volunteer at Widnes in several capacities including coaching with their academy squad. We can find no record of Neil Belshaw having been a professional rugby league player.       Captain: Jack Owens   Jack Owens made his professional début with Widnes in 2011. In 2015 he played one game for Whitehaven on dual reg and then he joined St. Helens in 2016 playing 28 games in his first year. After a few games for Saints at the beginning of 2017 he went on loan to Sheffield Eagles in May and signed f
