London Broncos v Fev (Championship Round 9): 21 Man Squads

Image
We now have the full 21 man squads for both Fev and Broncos. We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads so we choose to use guesswork based on last week’s teams to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs. Any loan players are shown in green and any dual reg players in pink.

Batley It felt great to beat Batley last weekend and to continue our 100% Championship start to the season into 8 games. Of course, we ought to be beating Batley but after last season there were understandable nerves amongst Fev fans going into the Fev match. We arrived at Mount Pleasant more than an hour before kick-off to find the lovely area behind the main stand packed full and with hardly any Batley supporters in sight. That area creates a great atmosphere when it is like that. The first half performance was excellent. The second half, far less so. Most people would put that down to the famous Batley slope. Maybe they should have called the club Batley Mountaineers rather than Bulldogs! There is no doubt whatsoever that the slope really helps a kicking game. We can recall several times when there had been a strong wind down the pitch that made attempts to kick up the hill almost impossible with the ball often going only a very short distance. Last year we set off with a tre

Table Toppers We are currently sitting proudly at the top of the Championship table four points clear of Toulouse and Sheffield. After 7 rounds last season we were also at the top but the situation was rather different. In 2022 we on top for 10 weeks but we were never more than one point above Leigh. So, the omens are good. It’s all in our hands. We thought we would look back at the situation in the 4 glorious seasons of 2010 to 2013 when we finished top 4 years in succession. 2010: We topped the table nearly all year (18 weeks out of 22). After the 7 th round we were top but by only a single point. By Round 19 we were 11 points clear although that dropped back to a 6 point margin in the end. 2011: That year we were sitting at the top for 7 of the 22 weekly rounds. After the 7 th round we were in 4 th place and all year we never got more than 3 points clear. 2012: It wasn’t until the 12 th round that we got to the top of the table and then stayed there for the res

An Aussie who sent off one of 'ours' last Sunday! He's done four previous Fev matches and we won all of them. Let's hope the sequence continues!
