Widnes Towards the end of the 1986-87 season, on the morning of 14th April, 1987 we got in the car and drove to Naughton Park, the famous ground of Widnes. The journey home after the match was a bit miserable after we had been on the wrong end of a 62-16 thrashing. It wasn’t as if we had a particularly poor squad that year. The Widnes game was the penultimate one in the league that year and at that time four clubs were relegated and four promoted from the second division. Fev were already condemned to the drop as we were in the bottom 3 and there was no possibility of saving us. But it was a Fev team including some notable names such as Chris Bibb, Steve Quinn, Graham Steadman, Deryck Fox, Karl Harrison, Keith Bell and Peter Smith. We nearly forgot, there was also a certain Mark Campbell in the second row! During that season we had won 8 of 15 home matches but only managed one solitary win in away games. The wins, and Fev fans would love to see some of these repeated next ye

Fev v London Broncos (Play-Offs Semi-Final): 21 Man Squads

Image
Fev and London have now both published the 21 Man Squad for Sunday.  We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads so we choose to use guesswork based on last week’s teams to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs. Any loan players are shown in green, dual reg players in pink.

This week's referee : Fev v London Broncos (Play-Offs Semi-Final)

A referee who hasn't sent anyone off this year. YET!! He's also low on penalty count and yellow cards. Looks like he likes the game to flow.

Head Coach:  Mike Eccles   We know very little about Mike Eccles and can find no record of him playing professionally. He has been at London Broncos since 2012, originally as Strength and Conditioning Coach.  In 2013 he became Head of Strength and Conditioning and then Head of Performance in 2016. In May of 2022, when Tom Tsang departed, he was appointed as caretaker coach and then was appointed Head Coach in September last year.   Captain: Will Lovell Jay Pitts was the Broncos captain in 2018 and 2019 but he moved on to Wakefield Trinity and Will Lovell took over. Will was born in Northampton and he has spent his entire playing career with London Broncos, making his début in 2012. He has also played for London Skolars on dual reg in the four years 2013 - 2016. He has played almost exclusively in the second row or at centre although in 2022 he did play occasionally at prop or loose forward. So far this year all his appearances have been in the second row.   Loan si
