Fev v Barrow Raiders (Championship Round 22): 21 Man Squads

Image
We have obtained the 21 man squads from the RFL Match Centre which has proved to be more reliable in recent weeks. If there are any changes when the clubs, themselves, publish their squads we will amend accordingly. We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads so we just have to use guesswork, whilst taking into consideration the line-ups in each club's last match, to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs.

A few days ago TotalRL.com published a list of the number of wins by each club in Super League. So we thought we would take a similar look, but for the Championship League (which started under that name in 2009). We discovered there were 5 clubs that had won more than 150 matches . Can you have a guess at which they are, and (rather more difficult) try to put them in order of their number of wins?

Toulouse As we drove to the ground for our home match against Toulouse there was a question floating around in our brain – Could we be as good as we had been the week before against Bradford? Well, we weren’t as good as were against Bradford. Despite having played so well at Odsal we were even better against Toulouse. A great deal better. Against Bradford we toughed it out and came away with the win. That had been fortunate as it was a late disputed penalty that gave us victory when it looked very much as if were about to lose. Against Toulouse we looked a much more overall top performing team. And that was all the more praiseworthy bearing in mind the loss of Greg Eden at halftime which meant that Ben Reynolds had to move to full back which yet again disrupted our halfback combination. When Toulouse scored their try in the 71st minute to leave Fev only four points ahead it got very tense but then came that wonderful try in the 77th minute that was, without doubt, the clincher. Th

Seventh time for Fev this year with this referee which seems a lot but we are not complaining! So far, in 2024, he has been lower than average for penalties, yellow cards and red cards.
