Fev v Huddersfield Giants (Pre-Season): 21 Man Squads

Image
The Fev and Huddersfield squads for Sunday have both been published.  We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads so we just have to use guesswork, to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs.  More difficult than usual for Huddersfield because they have only named one regular halfback from their first team squad and they have included four from their reserve squad (the ones with no age or squad number shown in the table.

fevnut's musings 2025/#04: Waterhead, Elderly players and Floodlights

The more we think about our Challenge Cup game against the Waterhead Warriors, the more puzzling we find it. It was the fourth highest score that Rovers have ever scored in a game and that led us to checking on our other big scores. Here are the top ten:   You will notice that all ten on of these games were played at Post Office Road. The highest score a Fev team have achieved in an away match was when we beat Gateshead Thunder, in May 2007, 74-16 in a National League 2 match.  Of course, in 2020 we beat Valencia Huracanes 102-14 but that wasn’t an official match and so it doesn’t count in any records. fevnut has been fortunate enough to have been present at all the games listed in the above chart. But the only one of these matches where we felt inclined to applaud the opposition at the end of the match was last week’s game. In all the others, the opposition virtually capitulated which certainly can’t be said of Waterhead who kept on valiantly trying right up until the ...

T'Other Side: Huddersfield Giants

The data on this page refers to the Huddersfield Giants first team squad. It is highly likely that their team rot the pre-season game will include quite a lot of players from their reserve team squad and possibly some academy players, too. Head Coach: Luke Robinson   Having been an assistant coach at Huddersfield, Luke Robinson was the caretaker head coach from September 2020 until the end of that season and fulfilled the same role from July to September 2024 and then he was promoted to the permanent head coach. As a player he was a scrumhalf, although in his final playing year he switched to hooker. Born in Halifax but his career started with Wigan in 2002. He was there for four seasons and during 2004 he had a loan spell with Castleford. In 2005 he moved to Salford and then joined Huddersfield in 2007 where he remained until he retired as a player at the end of 2018. At international level he played six games for England.       Captain: Leroy ...

Waterhead Warriors v Fev (Challenge Cup Round 2): Match Details

Worth saying, for anyone who couldn't make it to the match, that, despite the score, Waterhead gave a spirited performance and worked really hard throughout the whole match.

Waterhead Warriors and Fev (Challenge Cup Round 2): 21 Man Squads

Image
The Waterhead and Fev  squads for Saturday have both been published on the RFL Match Centre. Currently 6there are only 17 players listed for Waterhead. We find it quite difficult to see the potential shape of the teams in the form in which the clubs publish the squads so we just have to use guesswork, to set them out in the traditional manner running from fullback to loose forward and then subs. Usually we base it on the previous match and have done that for Waterhead. N.B. There was confusion over the Waterhead players' positions as they were listed when the BBC iPlayer broadcast their round one match but we have used that as the basis for the positions we have listed above.
