fevnut's musings 2025/#27: Toulouse, London Broncos and Fev Lions

This year, we didn’t travel to Toulouse for the match as we were up in Scotland on a family visit.

When we saw the score we were, obviously, disappointed by the result but the score did suggest that we had put in a good performance although that was later slightly tempered by reading comments from fans who did make the trip and the post-match interview with Paul Cooke.

However, to get so close to beating Toulouse seems to be commendable when you bear in mind their home results this year. They began by losing to Widnes but that was understandable because it was their first competitive match of the year whereas Widnes had already played two rounds in the Challenge Cup.

Since that game against Widnes, Toulouse have played 8 games at home and won every one. The closest any team have come to them are Fev who only lost by 2 points producing the lowest winning margin for Toulouse.

London Broncos

London seem to have got their act together in the last few weeks after starting the season very poorly. That wasn’t surprising bearing in mind the consequences of their relegation after a Super League. They started the year with very few registered players and had to rely on a whole succession of loan players to bolster their squad.

Of course, they did manage to beat Fev in February, after an appalling performance from our team.

In the last few matches they have ended a nine match losing run with wins against Hunslet and Halifax and last Sunday they travelled to Sheffield where they produced an eye-catching 48-6 victory.

Featherstone Lions

Rather like London Broncos, Fev Lions had a poor start to the season in the National League Division 3, but now seem to have really picked up and having spent a few weeks at the bottom of the table they have climbed to fourth place. Well done, Lions!

It’s worth looking at the table above. What a competition it is turning out to be with the club in 5th place only 2 points behind the team at the top. It’s going to be an exciting rest of the year. All to play for!
