Nathan Massey's game for the United States is a really odd one. He played for them against Cumbria at Barrow on 24th November 2007. It wasn't an official match but as Nathan Massey played for Fev in 2008 (on loan) and 2024 we were curious about how he was qualified to play for the United States. One day we bumped into him at ASDA in Glasshoughton so we asked him about it and he told us that he had absolutely no qualification for the United States! He had simply been asked to play by a friend (who we suspect was his Castleford colleague, Ryan McGoldrick. Although an Australian, McGoldrick did have a heritage qualification for the United States and played in 2 official matches for them as well as that game against Cumbria.
